Maksym Kozytskyy, the governor of the Lviv region, clarified the losses of Ukraine.

Two large explosions were seen on Sunday at the base in Yavoriv. Kozytskyy said Russia fired 30 rockets at the complex.

The words of an eyewitness

My windows shook. The whole house vibrated. It was dark. The sky lit up with two explosions, – said Stepan Chuma, 27, an emergency worker, who hurried to the scene with his colleagues.

Terrorist attack

Ukraine’s minister of defence, Oleksii Reznikov, has called Russia’s missile strikes on the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security a “terrorist attack”.

Attack near NATO border

Reznikov added that “foreign instructors” work at the military base. “This is new terrorist attack on peace and security near the EU-NATO border. Action must be taken to stop this. Close the sky!” he said.

It should be noted that Russians also attacked the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security, situated less than 25km (15 miles) from the Polish border.

More information

The US and other NATO countries previously conducted training exercises with the Ukrainian military at the center called Rapid Trident 21, according to the US Army website.

A Ukrainian general cited by the US army website said the Rapid Trident 21 exercises held at the Yavoriv center were "not just another stage of military skills improvement, but also an important step towards Ukraine's European integration."

Ukraine's defense minister said in a tweet that "foreign instructors" work at the training center.
