Shevchenko decided to raise 2 million pounds (almost 76.5 million hryvnias) of charitable aid for Ukrainians affected by Russian aggression.

The ex-coach of the national team launched a campaign in support of Ukraine – “Play Your Part for Ukraine”. As many cities lack food, water and medicine, the purpose of this campaign is to raise the funds to help children, women, and the elderly fleeing the war.
«First of all, we are to raise funds and help children, women, and the elderly fleeing the war. The situation is tragic, there is no food, water, medicine in many cities. Secondly, the goal is to make the Ukrainian people feel our closeness. We protect our freedom, our home», – Shevchenko said.
Shevchenko expressed his position on the invaders from the very beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
