The pair was not able to train before the World Cup because of Russia's war against Ukraine. Oleksandra Nazarova and Maksym Nikitin managed to escape the Russian shelling in Kharkiv to glorify Ukraine on the sports front. The Ukrainian figure skaters competed in the free skate, reports News TV Channel 24.

The Russian war against Ukraine did not allow figure skaters to prepare for the World Championships. Therefore, Nazarova and Nikitin competed without training.
In France, the Ukrainian couple danced for the first time to the song "1944" by Jamala. Also at the end of the performance the couple danced to the couplet "Oh, in the meadow red viburnum", performed by the singer of the group "Boombox" Andriy Khlyvnyuk.
The Ukrainians received 67.70 points for their performance and entered the final in 16th place.
