Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak participated in the meeting as well.
The trip was approved by the EU leadership
First, the President noted that the current situation in Ukraine is very dangerous. The Russian invaders continue systematic shelling of the cities with ballistic missiles.
"For example, today Russians shelled residential areas of Kyiv. They are firing at all areas - especially in western Ukraine, in the Lviv region", - Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of yellow and blue flags and was attended by many representatives of the world media. The trip of the European politicians had been agreed the day before with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The aim of the visit was primarily to reaffirm the European Union's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and independence. In addition, a comprehensive package of assistance to the Ukrainian state and society was discussed.
"Your visit to Kyiv at this difficult time for Ukraine is a strong sign of support. We appreciate it very much", - Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
